Hi, Dave Cahill at the Loggers Trail Golf Course in Minnesota. I’ve hit my tee shot off to the right in this deep rough. Instead of sitting down or being buried the ball is propped up on top of the grass. How am I going to manage this shot? I will need to catch the ball on level or even on a slight upswing. If I hit down to deep the ball will catch the top of the club making for a horrible shot.
What I am going to do is very simple. Take an even stance. No need to get the weight ahead because I want to catch the ball level not hit down on it. Put the ball a bit forward in the stance. My hands will be just about even with the ball. In a way, it’s kind of like hitting a drive that is teed up. Now take a normal swing to catch the ball just a little bit on the upswing.
Let’s try it. The ball is just a little bit forward in my stance, … it came out beautiful, right at the pin.
