Downhill Golf Shots
You can confidently hit downhill golf shots using this simple technique.
Take your stance and address the ball. Now before hitting the ball step away several feet and take your stance grounding the club in the center of your stance. Take a practice swing and observe where your club first strikes the ground or the grass. This is the new ball position to use when you are preparing to hit the ball. When you swing with the correct ball position you will hit solid shots.
Keep in mind that all downhill shots will come out low and this technique also produces low shots. A common mistake is to attempt to add loft to your shot by altering your swing. Do not alter your swing. Play the shot knowing that it will come out low and run.
Sometimes it is necessary to take a wider stance on severe downhill lies. When you take your test swing widen your stance in the same way you would when actually hitting the ball.
As a result of determining the “new” bottom of the swing you can confidently hit downhill golf shots every time
