Easy Pitching Method Using the Knees
An easy pitching method using the knees emphasizes weight transfer to get over to the left side of the shot. With a pitch shot there are two main ideas. One, the hands must be ahead of the ball at impact. Secondly, the club head is traveling on a downward path at impact. We want emphasis weight transfer using the knees to get over to the left side of the shot so we don’t flip the head of the club up at the ball. Using the knees to slide laterally through the shot will make sure these two principles occur.
Set up with your weight more over to the left side at address. Do that by moving the head, sternum and hips over to the left side. Now on the backswing instead of using a lot of wrist use a little then on the downswing emphasis weight transfer using the knees to get over to the left side. Vary the loft of the club by opening it a lot, just a little or leave it square, which will influence the height of the shot. This is what it looks like, notice my hands are even with the ball or ahead slightly and my knees slide laterally through the shot.
