Feel the Gravity

Today we are going to talk about the vertical angle in the forward swing. When I take my backswing there is wrist hinge, 30 degrees of wrist hinge with the left wrist. The wrist does not bend more than 30 degrees or we end up over bending and cupping, which causes all kinds of directional problems.

Once we’ve established our vertical angle of 30 degrees, we will take it into the forward swing and let gravity take over. Letting gravity takeover is a feel we want to become familiar with. As I swing forward I relax a little and feel gravity grab onto the club at the bottom. I keep on turning through, staying in my spine angle, feeling gravity and centripetal force grab onto the club at the bottom. It is a nice little relaxed feeling. The wrist hinge will return to it’s 0 degree position at impact. You’ll hit longer and straighter shots feeling the gravity.
