Golf Shot Accuracy with Alignment Stick
You can improve your golf shot accuracy by always practicing with an alignment stick.
An alignment stick is a fiberglass rod used as a driveway reflector stick. It is commonly sold in hardware store stores. You can buy the same stick at a golf store where it has the name alignment stick and costs twice as much.
The golf alignment stick helps you to address the ball with your shoulders, hips, feet and club aligned properly to the target. It is very common for golfers to line up left or right of the target. This occurs because as we address the ball we are not using our more accurate binocular vision. When we look standing straight up and facing an object our binocular vision allows our eyes converge on the same point, we then see the line to the object accurately. When we stand to the side, our eyes no longer converge on the same point. Unless we train ourselves we will regularly misalign to the target. A golf alignment stick is the perfect tool to teach correct visual alignment.
Place the stick on the ground pointing slightly parallel left of the target, for the RH golfer. Imagine two lines. The line from the ball directly to the target and your foot line which is parallel left. This looks like railroad tracks.
As you practice place your feet near but not up against the alignment stick. You need a little freedom to hit multiple shots without constantly moving the stick. Place your practice balls on the other side of the stick away from your feet and your target line.
When you religiously practice with the golf alignment stick you will train your eyes to see the target accurately. You will hit shots more accurately more often. Learn this golf skill and many others by attending a Palm Springs Golf School, Las Vegas Golf School or Minneapolis St. Paul golf school.
