Golf Stance Width at Address

Today I will talk about finding the correct golf stance width at address. Start out with your heels together (for someone my height about 6’ and using a 7 iron) separate your heels about 12 inches apart. This width is heel to heel not toe to toe. If you are shorter heels are a little closer together. If you are taller heels are a bit further apart.

Finding the correct golf stance width at address is determined not only by the height of the golfer but also by the club being used. The 12 inch width is for a 7 iron. With the driver separate your heels another 3 inches, to about 15 inches apart. Once again if you are shorter a little less than 15 inches apart and if you are taller a little more than 15 inches heel to heel. You will make better balanced shots when you find your correct golf stance width at address. Balance affects both the accuracy and consistency of golf shots.
