Low Golf Pitch Shot

Hi Mike Cahill here with Cahill Golf in beautiful Palm Springs. Today I want to show you how to hit a low pitch shot. We are going to try to do two things, de-loft the iron face and come into the shot with a steep angle. This will create spin and a nice low shot. Many holes don’t require a high shot so the low pitch shot is a great choice because is a little easier to control and the shot is not in the air as long so if you do miss it a little it won’t go as far off target.

To de-loft, place the golf ball back in the stance and move the hands forward.

For the low golf pitch shot, place the golf ball a little back in the stance. The ball back in the stance will cause the club to automatically de-loft a bit. Put the hands a little bit more forward which will further de-loft the club. As we come through we are going to do a small move towards the target. This move will get us a little steeper on the ball. All three will give a low pitch.
