Putting – Target Focused Aim
Hi, Dave Cahill here with Cahill Golf. I am at the Cimarron Golf Resort in Palm Springs, CA. Today I would like to talk to you about a putting technique that has helped me putt better. In this putting technique we are going to focus throughout the entire putting process on our target.
Here are a few simple steps to follow.
Here are a few simple steps to follow.
1. Follow your usual review of the green then stand back behind the ball.
2. Find your target spot. For example, if the ball breaks from right to left, the target spot I’m aiming for will be just a little bit to the right of the hole. Put your focus on that spot, your aim target.
3. Step to the side, about as far to the side as the stance line. Focus on your aim target.

4. Keeping focus on that spot approach the ball, take a stance position, take your grip, lay the putter behind the ball.
5. When you feel ready to putt resume focus fully on the aim target.
6. Take your eyes down to the ball and putt through right at the aim target.
