Putting with Single Shoulder Fulcrum
Single Fulcrum Putting
Putting using one shoulder joint as a fulcrum point increases both accuracy and repeatability of the putting stroke. The fulcrum point is the shoulder joint of your dominant hand/arm.
Practice the basic method by holding the putter in the palm of your dominant hand. Swing the putter back and forth holding on with only your dominant hand. Make a dozen or more putts with only one hand on the putter. Notice the smooth pendulum motion. Notice how your arm swings freely from your shoulder joint. Address the ball with a little bend in your dominant arm. Most likely you will stand a little taller than normal with less arm bend.
Put both hands on the club gripping with the following method. Using your dominant hand hold the putter towards the bottom of the grip. Hold it just as you did initially in the palm of your hand but low. Place your other hand high on the grip in the palm of your hand. Extend the index finger of your top hand down the side of the grip. Using your dominant hand fingers wrap your middle, wring, and index fingers around the extended index finger.
As you address the ball position it either in the middle of your stance or up to several inches toward your target side foot. Forward press your non dominant hand to flatten the wrist. Make a smooth pendulum motion using your dominant arm. You putts will be more consistent and accurate. You can learn this putting method and other valuable golf skills by taking a private lesson or attending a Palm Springs Golf School or Minnesota Golf School.
