Run-Up-Shot
Hi, Dave Cahill here with Cahill Golf at the Cimarron Golf Resort in beautiful Palm Springs.
I am looking at the green in front of me, the wind is coming into me and the pin is way to the front of the green so I can’t really get the ball up on the green close to the pin. So, what I am going to try to do is land the ball in the front of the green. Making the shot more challenging, the green is elevated so I cannot hit into the bank in front of the green/pin or it will just kill the shot and I won’t be up on the green. So, what I am going to do is take a low lofted club like a seven iron, land it in front of the green and let it run up. A lot of people make the mistake of hitting the golf ball into the bank. You do not want to do that. The shot I am going to take has the ball just a little bit back in my stance and my hands ahead with just a touch of weight over on my left side. I am going to hit it low and from the bank I am going to let it run up.
